Module 1: Introduction to Archaeology and Ancient Eleon

In this introductory unit, the Eastern Boeotia Archaeological Project and the site of ancient Eleon are introduced. Then, we investigate what archaeology is and what archaeologists do. We think about why material evidence is a valuable primary source, and what practices allow us to treat material evidence with care.

Module 2: Geography of Greece

In this unit, learners explore the physical features of the Greek landscape. Learners consider how geography impacted various aspects of Greek civilization and practice their mapping skills using interactive maps. After introducing some key environmental features of Greece, we zoom out to consider Greece within the wider Mediterranean Basin. We consider how the ancient Greeks viewed geography through the lens of mythological stories. Finally, we apply these understandings to a more focused consideration of Boeotia, the area of Greece where ancient Eleon is located.
